Book "The Art and Science of Natural Dyes"

This book by Catharine Ellis and Joy Boutrup is the only book we recommend for anyone starting out in Natural Dyeing because it is the only one we know that presents a scientific basis for practices in this area while still being  very accessible and practice for beginners.

Part of the book contains the theory or rationale for dyeing with each dye and pigment, which is then supplemented with recipes that are easy to understand and follow.

The book covers not only many dyes, but also indigo dyeing, making it an excellent investment!

Catharine and Joy have decades of experience not only in dyeing, but also in chemistry, textile engineering, history and education and this book reflect all that knowledge.
