This mini-course is a shorter version of our ‘Working with Wool, from sheep to yarn’ course, lasting just one day, designed for those who are focussed on learning how to process wool, from washing to spinning.
It's no secret that wool is one of our great passions, so this will be a day of sharing and total immersion in this wonderful fibre, starting with the raw wool and ending with the yarn.

We'll start with an introduction to raw wool, its characteristics and how to store it correctly. Then we'll learn about the principles of washing wool, using practical methods, with an eye to saving water and energy. Washing wool is one of the most delicate steps and one where mistakes are most often made, so we'll be rigorous with this part.
Once our wool has been washed, we'll learn how to prepare the fibres for spinning, through carding and combing, the two main fibre preparation processes.
We will also be introduced to spinning with a spindle and/or spinning wheel.

This training includes the gift of our Wool Processing Manual - From Sheep to Yarn, produced exclusively for this training (in portuguese).
It also includes all the necessary material, including cards, combs, a drum carder, spindles, spinning wheels, as well as various types of wool from indigenous breeds, making it an excellent opportunity to get to know and try out all kinds of equipment and raw materials.
