Calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2) is one of the ingredients used in creating organic indigo Vat 1-2-3, which raises the pH.
By alkalizing the vat, Calcium hydroxide makes it possible to reduce indigo and, consequently, to dye textiles with this pigment.
We also use calcium hydroxide as an alkalizing agent in the pigment extraction process from fresh indigo plants at Saber Fazer.

The choice of using calcium hydroxide is made because it is a non-toxic compound for the environment and quite safe to handle during dyeing processes.

It is available in bags of 100gr, 500gr or 1kg.

It is advisable to use a mask and gloves when handling this powder, as being thin and light it is easily inhalable. Although not toxic, hydrated lime is slightly abrasive due to its high pH.

Calcium hydroxide must be stored in airtight bags to prevent carbonation.
