In May, Ana Rita de Arruda will be teaching how to felt raw wool fleeces and create beautiful pieces that keep the wool strands intact.
This is a specific felting technique, the aim of which is to create a cohesive piece while keeping the fleece's wool strands intact and retaining their original, freshly sheared appearance. We will explore various exercises that will teach us how to master this technique using different types of wool and bindings. At the beginning of the training, there will be a presentation of the types of Portuguese wool of the indigenous breeds, so that participants can gain more knowledge about the raw material.
The training includes all the material to be used, including various types of raw Portuguese wool.

Course content
- Theoretical introduction to the felting process
- Theoretical introduction to the types of Portuguese wool
- exercise #1: felting raw fleece from churro type wool
- exercise #2: felting raw fleece from Bordeaux and Merino wools
- exercise #3: inclusion of strands in felted garments
