Family workshop, Needle felting

Family workshop, Needle felting

On 24 October we will be running a hands-on introduction to needle felting, inviting families to explore this technique and its creative and sculptural possibilities.

During the session, using wool and simple felting needles, we will learn to make real and imagined objects built from nothing but wool. At the end of the session, each family can take home the objects they have made.

Throughout 2026, the Biblioteca Almeida Garrett is running a cycle of activities devoted to making, exploring the creative potential of our hands. As a family, participants will have the chance to learn about a range of production techniques, making objects and handling different materials. From weaving to ceramics, by way of bookbinding and felting, each activity explores a different technique. The initiative is organised in partnership with Saber Fazer.
