Ratanjot Root powder (Onosma hispidum)

Ratanjot is a herbaceous plant in the Boraginaceae family. Its roots are used to extract a violet-colored red.
The coloring matter it contains is not soluble in water, so it is necessary to soak the root in alcohol for at least 1 or 2 weeks to extract the red. Alkaline solutions produce more violet colors, while acidic environments produce more reddish tones. The pH of the solution can be checked with our pH strips.
