ABOUT CAMPANIÇA WOOL
Campaniça wool is a medium-thick wool with a full-bodied feel, without being harsh. What it lacks in fineness, it makes up for in length, standing out for combining longer, lustrous fibers with the absence of buckhair.
This wool is known for being very pleasant to spin and/or felt, and is suitable for a wide range of uses. In felting, it combines good reduction capacity with a full-bodied character, which also allows it to be used for a variety of purposes with good results.
The fleece has dense, homogeneous strands with a lot of fat. The fibers are well aggregated, showing some waviness, which gives them a certain elasticity, but they tend to be thicker than those of other Bordaleiro breeds.
WHY DO WE SELL RAW WOOL?
The marketing of raw wool by Saber Fazer has two main objectives:
#1: Value the wool from its source: the producer. We buy wool above market value, valuing not only a quality raw material, but also the producers who dedicate themselves to their animals and take wool production into consideration.
Although the way we proceed is not yet standard in Portugal, we want to set an example.
Shearing is also carried out by our shearer and selection is carried out on the spot, which involves us going to the location of the flock. With this we also want producers to see how we do it and start to gain experience and knowledge about this area of wool.
#2: To deliver an absolutely excellent product to people who appreciate wool as much as we do! Wool carefully selected by someone who spins and makes a living from textiles, impeccably sheared by a professional shearer, unraveled and stored to preserve its quality.
The most commonly used term to describe the wool we select is "delicious" and it usually causes great sighs! If we could, we would keep everything here in the studio, but we like to share our pleasure in wool and make the best of Portuguese wool known.
